Brazilian Plant Health Congress - VI Conbraf takes place from September 21st to 23rd, Goiânia/GO - Brazil
Corteva Agriscience, in partnership with UNESP/Botucatu, promoted 40 training sessions, from February to June 2022, with the aim of assisting producers and applicators on the correct use of hormonal herbicides and helping them prepare to comply with the Instruction Normative 42/2021, created by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development of Rio Grande do Sul. As of August 31, 2022, IN 42 comes into force for the 497 municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, establishing the registration of applicators of hormonal agrochemical products and the obligation for the producer to provide information on their application within a maximum period of 10 days.
Corteva has a robust training program in the region. From 2019 to June 2022, the company and UNESP/Botucatu trained more than 3428 applicators. The courses last 16 hours, with theoretical and practical content. At the end, participants go through a process of evaluating the knowledge acquired so that they can receive the certificate. “It is very important to raise awareness about the correct and safe use of agricultural pesticides. Contributing to the development of national agriculture is part of Corteva's commitment and we need everyone's participation so that Rio Grande do Sul continues to advance in the fight against drift”, says André Baptista, leader of Corteva Agriscience's Herbicide Portfolio.
Failure to comply with the rules established by IN 42 results in the application of administrative sanctions that involve warnings, fines of R$ 1.500,00 to R$ 40.000,00, product condemnation, suspension and cancellation of authorization, registration or license and establishment closure. In addition, civil and criminal liabilities may be assessed. Corteva also provides support to clarify doubts through lectures with consultants, according to the needs of local customers.
