Corteva Agriscience and the Association of Sugarcane Suppliers of the Campo Florido Region (Canacampo) are promoting the Corteva Natureza socio-environmental project this week in Pirajuba (MG). At this stage, the objective is to guide students who live in rural areas on which individual and collective actions can be incorporated into everyday life to promote environmental preservation.

Around 150 children from the municipality located in the Triângulo Mineiro region participate in this stage of the project. In the coming days, they will attend lectures with comprehensive educational content, in addition to taking part in interactive actions on recycling, conscious use of water and the reestablishment of native vegetation.

The meeting will be held at the Regional Center for Environmental Education, maintained by Canacampo and with the participation of Corteva and three other important sugarcane plants in the region: Coruripe, CMAA Vale do Tijuco and Santo Ângelo. At the center, there is a native seedling nursery, where students will be instructed on the management and planting of native species. There, they will also participate in a seedling planting action to mark the beginning of the project.

“Corteva Natureza is a project focused on students, as they are an instrument of environmental awareness for their parents and families, the majority of whom are rural producers”, says Igor Borges, coordinator of Good Agricultural Practices at Corteva. “Living in harmony with the environment is part of Corteva’s purpose in guaranteeing the future of this and future generations. It’s about enriching the lives of those who produce and also those who consume”, adds Borges.

Education in Good Agricultural Practices

In addition to Corteva Natureza, the company also promotes the educational project “Expedição da Agricultura para a Vida”, which aims to disseminate good agricultural practices. Using a truck with a trunk adapted for a classroom format, the program travels to several Brazilian municipalities to offer technical training for agronomists, consultants and professionals who deal with farming.

There is also the Responsible Application Program (PAR), in partnership with the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Botucatu, which trains farmers in the application of pesticides and reinforces the importance of good agricultural practices.

In addition to these, the social projects Corteva Escola and Corteva Mulheres no Campo are also part of the company's Good Practices Program. The Corteva School with the theme “MY HERO, THE FARMER”, highlights the importance of the farmer as responsible for food production, highlighting Corteva's partnership as a company committed to developing technologies that help those who live in the countryside.

Corteva Mulheres no Campo identifies and exposes the reality in which women live in relation to their health and that of their family, as well as their importance in the professional world. Furthermore, it proposes the adoption of practical and healthy attitudes so that they can achieve quality of personal and family life.
