The main highways, waterways and railways to focus on throughout the year were defined
The price of corn recorded in Mato Grosso do Sul rose 6% between January and February this year. Conversely, in the same period, the price of soybeans fell 9,2%. The numbers make up the latest survey of the Casa Rural Informative, developed by the Department of Economy of the Famasul System - Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of MS.
According to the Information, in the month of February this year a bag of corn registered an average of R$ 34,26, a value that represents an increase of 5,7% in relation to January, when the grain was sold for an average of R$ $32,39 a bag. For economic analyst Luiz Gama, the best explanation for this increase lies in the law of supply and demand. "We started the year with accelerated exports in periods when sales are generally not traditional, such as January and February. The result of this scenario is the exchange rate, which made our product more competitive and stimulated negotiations." Compared to the same period last year, when a bag of corn was sold at R$19,72, the increase is 76%.
With this, Gama analyzes that the valued dollar made the foreign market more attractive, inflating prices in the domestic market. According to data released by Secex - Secretariat of Foreign Trade, Mato Grosso do Sul exported 361 thousand tons in January this year, an increase of 61,2% compared to January last year. "The volume exported is higher for the period in the last five years", adds Gama. The State was the fourth largest corn exporter in the country in January, accounting for 8,11% of the total.
Unlike the performance of corn, soybeans ended the month of February at an average of R$65,35 per 60-kilo bag, accumulating a drop of 9,2% in relation to January sales, when the oilseed was worth R$72 per bag. get it. For Gama, the advance of the harvest, which has already reached 42%, is the fact that justifies this reduction in prices.
Despite the drop recorded between January and February this year, compared to the same period last year, when a bag of soybeans was sold for R$64,36, the increase was 20,2%.
According to the Casa Rural Newsletter, considering a production of approximately 7,3 million tons for the 2015/16 harvest, the anticipated commercialization of soybeans in Mato Grosso do Sul already reaches 51,5% or 3,75 million tons, 21,5 percentage points more than in the same period last year.
In January 2016, 31,1 thousand tons of soybeans were exported from Mato Grosso do Sul, according to Secex data, in the same period last year no volume was recorded exported by the State.
"The last time this happened during the month of January was in 2012, when the North American harvest failed", reinforces Gama.
