Corn prices continue to register different movements among the markets monitored by Cepea, influenced by regional supply and demand. In producing regions, values have declined, pressured by the start of the harvest and the need for space in warehouses. The increases generally occur in consumer markets and are influenced by logistical difficulties and uncertainties regarding crop productivity – with the advance of the soybean harvest, an increase in competition for the flow of corn is expected, maintaining the prospect of an increase in freight . This environment influences the reduction in the pace of new businesses involving the cereal, causing sellers to remain out of the market.

The seller's retreat is also linked to the weather. Irregular rains since December have left farmers worried both about the current summer harvest and the development of the second harvest, which has already begun to be sown in some states. Regarding prices in the São Paulo market, corn offers from the Brazilian Center-West continue to limit valuations. Between January 18th and 25th, the ESALQ/BM&FBovespa Indicator (Campinas-SP region) rose 1,5%, closing at R$ 38,88/60 kg bag on Friday, 25th.
