At the beginning of the week, the Brazilian and Mato Grosso markets showed an insignificant flow of business involving grains. For today, the values quoted for corn are: R$70,96 in Chapada dos Guimarães, R$72,44 in Guiratinga, R$72,41 in Jaciara and R$73,52 in Torixoréu. The analysis is by Malu Fernandes, from Tarken.

“The tendency is that with the beginning of July approaching and the harvest flow also increasing in other Brazilian states, we will have a greater internal availability of corn grains, therefore, we tend to see falling prices in the short term”, he explains. Fernandes.

Since last Thursday, the 23rd, the Mato Grosso market has felt the drop in corn prices and closed the week at a standstill. According to the Tarken specialist, the main values quoted last week were: R$72 in Chapada dos Guimarães, R$73,20 in Guiratinga, R$73,46 in Jaciara and R$74,27 in Torixoréu.

“With the second crop corn harvest advancing day after day in the country and in Mato Grosso it had already reached around 35,7% of the forecast area by Friday, we observed freight costs rising. There are also videos circulating of corn outside the warehouses, allocated in the open, a point that must be taken into consideration when considering the quality of the grain, which can be harmed due to this type of storage, or rather, the lack of it”, says Malu.

Such conditions, according to her, cannot be considered to portray the market, as it is not new and only reflects something that has already been said before. “The fact that producers are still very stocked up on soybeans, in addition to the fact that the harvest is very advanced in this year 2022, 26% ahead of what was seen at the same time, in the last harvest”, she ponders.

With a greater supply of corn on the market, precisely due to the surprising advance of the harvest, the price of the grain available on the Mato Grosso market fell 6,86 percentage points, according to IMEA, Mato Grossense Institute of Agricultural Economics.
