Public notice published for the selection of rural young people for exchange in Canada
The exchange period will be eight and a half months, starting in November, in Brazil, and ending in September 2025, in the Province of British Columbia
The Weekly Monitoring of Crop Conditions, released this week by the National Supply Company (Conab), highlights the cultivation of cotton, 2nd and 3rd harvest beans, 2nd harvest corn and wheat. According to the company, as of Sunday (21), the 2nd harvest of corn reached 79,6% of the total in the country, with emphasis on the states of Mato Grosso, where the harvest is almost finished and productivity remains high, and in Goiás, where more than 50% of the area was harvested.
Rainfall in recent weeks has interrupted the harvest in Paraná in several regions, but the majority of crops are in good condition. While in Mato Grosso do Sul, the harvest has advanced. In São Paulo, the harvest exceeded half of the sown area, but productivity remained low, reflecting the unfavorable weather conditions during the harvest. In Tocantins, the harvest is practically over, with yields lower than initially estimated. While in Maranhão, Piauí and Pará, the harvest is advancing and being closed in some producing regions.
Cotton: according to the bulletin, the cotton harvest reached 20,5%. In Mato Grosso, the dry climate helped with maturation and desiccation, favoring the harvest. In Bahia, the harvest in irrigated and rainfed areas totaled 30% of the state area. In Mato Grosso do Sul, the harvest is close to half of the total area. Quality and yield losses were observed in the North and Northeast regions, due to excessive rainfall in part of the fiber's reproductive cycle. In Maranhão, Goiás and Piauí, harvests are advancing. In São Paulo, it is practically finished.
2nd harvest beans: The cowpea harvest was completed in Bahia, with impacts on the productive potential caused by water restrictions. While the irrigated bean crops are in grain filling and demonstrate good conditions.
3nd harvest beans: In the State of Minas Gerais, crops have varied phenological phases and good development, thanks to supplementary irrigation. In Goiás, the harvest is progressing in a staggered manner. In Bahia, despite the reduction in rainfall, crops are developing well.
Wheat: Conab indicates that wheat sowing in Brazilian crops reached 96,8% of the total. In Rio Grande do Sul, data indicate that the reduction in rainfall provided better conditions for the implementation of the latest crops and the development of those already sown, despite the reduction in the pace of phenological evolution caused by low temperatures and cloudy days. In Paraná, rains limited the progress of sowing in some regions, but completion is expected in the coming weeks. While in São Paulo, recent rains and the decrease in temperature have mitigated losses due to water stress.
The rain also impacted sowing in Santa Catarina, where temperatures increased, but the precipitation persisted and hampered the work, which is delayed compared to the previous harvest. High humidity also favored an increase in the incidence of leaf spots in the State. In Minas Gerais, the harvest approaches ¼ of the total area and the harvest is concentrated in rainfed crops. In Goiás, harvesting in rainfed areas is closed, but there is a reduction in production potential. In Mato Grosso do Sul, the rains alleviated water stress conditions in the south of the state, and the crop phases vary between vegetative development and maturation.
