The first day of Femagri - Agricultural Machinery, Implements and Inputs Fair, organized by Cooxupé, in Guaxupé/MG, was marked by the renewal of the signing of the agreement between the coffee cooperative and the Faemg/Senar System.

The partnership between Cooxupé and the National Rural Learning Service of Minas Gerais establishes the holding of courses to bring knowledge and training to producers and rural workers directly in the field. With an investment of R$3 million, the partnership promotes training throughout the year.

“It is a fantastic partnership that brings knowledge to everyone. Without education and knowledge, we get nowhere. Senar came to fill and complete this gap in our environment with several courses, transmitting knowledge to our members. Each year, we hope to expand this partnership and I urge other cooperatives to do the same, as it represents a lot and is essential for their respective businesses,” said the president of Cooxupé, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo.

For Celso Furtado Júnior, superintendent of Senar Minas, the agreement is vital for expanding training in all regions of Minas Gerais, ensuring the appropriate use of agricultural technologies.

Since its creation in 2011, the agreement between Cooxupé and the Faemg/Senar System has already enabled the delivery of approximately 5 courses and the training of more than 49 people. At Femagri, the document was signed by the president of Cooxupé, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo, vice-president Osvaldo Bachião Filho, the superintendent of Senar Minas, Celso Furtado Júnior, and the advisor to the board of directors of the Faemg/Senar System, Antônio Carlos Álvares.

Official opening of Femagri

Coffee exchange relations and security on rural properties were highlights of the official opening of Femagri 2025, on the morning of Wednesday, March 19. The ceremony was attended by the executive board and team of the cooperative, as well as authorities, cooperative members and rural producers.

With the theme “Agriculture and Climate Change: Resilience and Opportunity”, the vice-president of Cooxupé, Osvaldo Bachião Filho, highlighted in his speech the importance of this economic moment of coffee for producers and the exchange ratio in coffee to expand the adoption of technology in agriculture.

“Since interest rates are high, we need to be aware that the price of coffee will not stay like this forever and there is a limit. Therefore, to avoid risks, we must use the coffee we produce. Right now, this is the best opportunity that Femagri has ever seen to make investments and bring more profitability. In addition to improving the quality of life for our families,” he said.

The Superintendent of Cooxupé Cooperative Development, José Eduardo dos Santos Júnior, explained that producers must be careful when closing deals.

“We generally encourage coffee exchanges for three to five years. However, this year is not the best deal due to high interest rates. The price of coffee is high now and in the near future, but it is expected to fall later and this exchange rate will not be attractive in the long term. We are in a unique situation, the moment is very good. However, you producers need to be careful to do business in shorter terms, for a maximum of two years,” he warned.

Property security

“The price of coffee has been attracting attention. Therefore, we need to work on the integration of everyone in order to achieve results in public safety. Through the Military Police, we have adopted strategies in all municipalities. The Civil Police has been exchanging information with us and with society to identify gangs operating in the region. We ask that organizations and producers receive the police officers to pass on information and that coffee growers invest in security equipment and padlocks on their gates. And they should not reveal what was bought or sold or where they keep the supplies,” advised the Commander of the 18th Military Police Region, Colonel Trajano.
