The Regional Cooperative of Coffee Growers in Guaxupé – Cooxupé released this Friday, March 23, the financial statement for the year 2017. Revenue was R$3,687 billion.
The results also show that last year, Cooxupé concentrated R$ 62 million in investments in expanding structures, one of them the industrial area of the Japy Complex, and in inaugurations to expand the cooperative's area of operation and a Distribution Center of Inputs in Guaxupé, a city in the south of Minas, where the company's headquarters are located.
In 2017, 4,73 million bags of Arabica coffee were received and 5,5 million were shipped. The cooperative directly exported 4,055 million bags to 48 countries and sent 1,1 million bags to the domestic market. SMC Specialty Coffees, a company controlled by Cooxupé that operates in the specialty coffee niche, exported 64.974 thousand bags. The result of direct exports kept Cooxupé as the leader among operating Brazilian companies that export coffee, according to Cecafé.
The cooperative's Roasting Plant also reached full production capacity in 2017: more than 1 million kilos per month and also carried out the first direct export of roasted and ground coffee to the Dominican Republic.
"With the low biennial period and, mainly, with the drop in production that occurred in Cooxupé's area of action due to the climate, we need to readjust our goals in 2017. Even so, we consider the results to be satisfactory. We did not paralyze our investments and our members found in the cooperative, daily liquidity for its commercial operations. This is only possible thanks to strategic and planned management, led by competent and committed professionals", says president Carlos Paulino.
Cooxupé has more than 14 thousand members in its area of action: south of Minas Gerais, cerrado of Minas Gerais and central Mogiana of the state of São Paulo. The organizational structure concentrates more than 2 thousand employees. In 2017, the cooperative celebrated 85 years of regional cooperativism and 60 years of activities as Cooxupé.
