Argentina sees decline in agricultural machinery sales in 2024
Total revenue reaches 2,2 trillion pesos, but unit sales fall 4% due to weather factors and price increases
The Regional Coffee Growers' Cooperative in Guaxupé (Cooxupé) recorded, in 2024, the highest revenue in its history, reaching R$ 10,7 billion - a growth of 67% compared to 2023. The results, announced at the Ordinary General Meeting, also reveal an amount of R$ 394,4 million in net surplus, of which R$ 134,4 million will be distributed among the cooperative members.
Cooxupé shipped 6,6 million bags of coffee in 2024, an increase of 46% compared to the previous year. Of this total, 5,1 million bags were exported to more than 50 countries, such as the United States, Germany, Belgium and China, representing 80% of the cooperative's activities. The volume of coffee received was also significant, totaling 6,1 million bags, of which 4,9 million came from cooperative members and 1,2 million from third parties.
The cooperative invested R$91,3 million in infrastructure, technology and development, including modernization of units and process automation. In addition, Cooxupé's roasting industry, which turned 40 in 2024, consolidated its partnership with Master Expresso, expanding its presence in the corporate market. The production of roasted and ground coffees reached 13,7 million kilos, with a growing presence in retail in Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Family farming continues to be the foundation of the cooperative, with 97,4% of members classified as mini and small producers. Last year, Cooxupé provided more than 109 technical services in the field and promoted more than 670 events, reaching 52 participants.
In the sustainability scenario, the Gerações Protocol, a cooperative program, received recognition from the Ministry of Agriculture and equivalence with the Global Coffee Platform (GCP). In addition, it was highlighted at international events, such as COP29.
According to Cooxupé president Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo, high coffee prices drove record results, but climate challenges continue to affect coffee productivity. “Our members have demonstrated resilience and commitment, ensuring the sustainability of the sector. We celebrate these historic numbers and remain focused on future challenges,” he highlighted.
