Coopernorte, the largest agro-industrial cooperative in the North of Brazil, has started producing four new corn derivatives: corn flakes, couscous, canjica and cornmeal. The products are initially available in supermarkets in 36 cities in the state of Pará. This is the first corn derivatives industry in the state of Pará, which is one of the largest consumers of the product in the country.

"Since May of this year, Coopernorte's agribusiness has stood out in the commercialization of rice, beans and popcorn, showing a positive performance in the sector. Now, we have expanded our product portfolio, consolidating an important advance for the cooperative and for the economy of the entire North region", highlights Bazílio Carloto (in the photo), CEO of Coopernorte.

The estimated production capacity until the end of 2024 is more than 1.125 tons for flakes, cornmeal and couscous, and more than 870 tons for canjica. The expected daily production is around 11 tons (each) for flakes, cornmeal and couscous, and more than 13 tons for canjica, considering only one shift of operation. These volumes reflect the strength of Coopernorte's agribusiness, which invested more than R$ 73 million in its structure to meet the growing demand.

"The launch of these new products is part of Coopernorte's commitment to adding value to agricultural production and providing high-quality products to consumers," adds Bazílio Carloto, CEO of Coopernorte. Production will be carried out using corn supplied by Coopernorte members and customers, consolidating the cooperative's vertical integration project.

In addition to meeting growing demand, the new product line aims to promote cultural and regional food, promoting ingredients that are part of typical dishes of Pará cuisine. In addition to distribution in supermarkets, the marketing strategy includes marketing actions, promotions and tastings, with a focus on expanding the market throughout the state.
