By unanimous vote, the members of the Cooperative of Rural Producers of Bahia (Cooperfarms) approved last Thursday (31/03), in an assembly, the acquisition of a new and modern structure for storing agricultural pesticides with a call for capital R$11 million.

The new location, with 13,9 m², 5,8 m² of built area, located on the banks of BR 020, towards Luís Eduardo Magalhães - Brasília, has an immediate operating capacity of 6.450 positions/pallets, in addition to a blocked area , flammable, nine docks and office.

“Our current structure only allows for 1.400 positions/pallets, in addition to making operational logistics difficult, we are in a rented area that does not allow us to expand,” said the president of Cooperfarms, Marcelo Kappes, highlighting that in 2021, the Pesticide storage operated at full steam and allowed members to deliver products, even during the crisis in the supply of agricultural inputs.

According to him, the cooperative's commercial policy, one of the great price guides in the region, ensures that the cooperative member is assertive in making decisions when purchasing pesticides and consequently, through the storage service, has the security and stock of the product in the time of application.

The purchase of the new structure will take place through a capital call, that is, the cooperative members will make the investment viable through the acquisition of shares with a unit value of R$ 75 thousand. The move to the new address will take up to six months.

“The decision to acquire this new and modern agricultural pesticide storage structure was taken after much dialogue with the cooperative members, who in a meeting approved the capital call and understood the business opportunity, which puts Cooperfarms on another commercial level”, Kappes highlighted.

New business unit

Another agenda at the meeting was the implementation of a new business unit for cotton processing. In a vote, the group indicated that it would analyze the proposal, after presenting a feasibility study.
