Embrapa opens selection for commercialization of new corn hybrid
The process involves selecting up to five producers who will receive seeds from the new hybrid to validate its agronomic performance
The frosts that occurred in June and July hit sugarcane producing areas in several states, leaving sugarcane growers on alert and now, the effects of the cold waves on the sugarcane fields have begun to appear.
According to agronomist Fabiana Fernandes, a sugarcane specialist at Coopercitrus, the main damages identified in the sugarcane fields in the cooperative's area of operation, in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, are losses of shoots of ratoons and cane plants, which will result in a delay in crop development, resulting in a drop in productivity.
"In addition to the intense drought that the sugarcane was already experiencing, the frosts came and, as a result, the plants lost development", comments the specialist. "Adult sugarcane fields that could not be harvested within a short period of time had drops in ATR (total recoverable sugar) and TCH (tons of sugarcane per hectare), " adds Fabiana.
Aware of the importance of adequate management to recover the productivity of sugarcane fields after frost, Coopercitrus is training its technical and commercial team to provide support and guide producers on best practices, indicating the most appropriate treatments for each situation.
"In addition to the team of experts who visit the affected areas, we are training our Commercial Technical Consultants to help members recover the sugarcane field from stress and avoid loss of longevity", comments the agronomic manager of Coopercitrus, André Rossi.
Rural producers whose sugarcane fields were affected by frost can contact the nearest Coopercitrus and receive support from Commercial Technical Consultants to assist them at this time.
Other technical training is planned for the cooperative team, with the aim of providing the best service to members and contributing to increased productivity in the field. The topics of the training range from actions on climatic events such as frost, drought, and the management commonly applied to the cultivation in general of our operating crops, including the choice of seed, updates on fertilizer and pesticide technologies, always seeking the best profitability of our cooperative member.
