Female participation as protagonists in companies and rural properties has continually grown in Brazil and reached, in 2019, a rate of 54,5%. Data from the 2017 Agricultural Census, from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), indicate that 19% of Brazilian rural establishments are managed by women, which is equivalent to around one million businesses. These producers, when asked about their work in the field, indicated, for the most part, that they were owners (59,2%) and felt prepared for rural work (55,5%).
Always at the side of its cooperative members, encouraging them in the best production practices, Coopercitrus will launch during the Coopercitrus Expo 2022 the 'Mulheres do Campo - O Agro é Delas' project, with special programming to promote relationships, training and strengthening of links between cooperative members and female agricultural leaders. Heading the Coopercitrus Financial Department, director Simonia Sabadin was elected ambassador of the movement.
The launch takes place on July 26th, with a lecture by agricultural engineer Vanessa Sabioni, on the female influence on the transformation of agriculture. Daughter and granddaughter of rural producers, Sabioni has always permeated the sector and is currently a consultant, ESG executive and creator of AgroMulher, the largest community focused on training, valuing and integrating women in agriculture.
The event will also feature the debate ‘The challenges of rural women’, with the participation of rural producers and Coopercitrus cooperative members. They are: the livestock farmer and President of the Livestock Chamber at the SP Agriculture Secretariat, Chris Moraes; coffee farmer Marisa Contreras; the grain, tomato and sugar cane producer, Maira Coscrato Lelis da Silva; sugarcane farmer Victória Donegá; and the financial director of Coopercitrus and ambassador of the project, Simonia Sabadin.
After Coopercitrus Expo, the ‘Mulheres do Campo’ project will have a permanent program at Coopercitrus, with periodic meetings in order to foster female engagement in the sector.
Back to the in-person format, between the 25th and 29th of July, Coopercitrus Expo 2022 will be ready to receive visits from more than 20 thousand rural producers. Installed in more than 30 thousand m2 at Fundação Coopercitrus Credicitrus, on the banks of Rodovia Brigadeiro Faria Lima, in Bebedouro, SP; the fair brings together more than 160 leading agricultural companies, including suppliers of tractors, machines, implements and agricultural inputs, as well as precision agriculture technologies - always with the support of the country's main financial agencies and with special plans from Coopercitrus Insurance broker.
