Coopercitrus – Cooperativa Produtores Rurais, promotes a new program aimed at boosting regenerative agriculture. This is the Coopercitrus Bio Solutions program, which demonstrates a continuous commitment to soil quality, increased productivity, better income for rural producers and the regeneration of production systems.
“The program combines several solutions such as a mix of cover crops, environmental analysis, use of beneficial microorganisms, crop rotation, cultivar selection and integrated management of pests and diseases. These elements are essential for a high-performance system”, explains André Rossi, Technical Market Development manager at Coopercitrus.
The integrated technical look at the production system, with indications for improvements and long-term planning are part of the cooperative's program. Many rural producers have already joined the three-year production systems regeneration plan. At the end of this cycle they will receive an enzymatic analysis of the soil, with valuable information to further optimize their practices.
Rural producer Lincoln Junqueira is known in the region of São José do Rio Pardo (SP), for being a pioneer in the use of biological pesticides and organomineral fertilizers in coffee production. This practice has ensured very satisfactory results, with an 83% increase in average coffee production. “We went from an average of 30 bags of coffee per hectare to 55 bags and we are very happy with this result”, says Junqueira. The good results in coffee production motivated the producer to also invest in the use of organic matter in the production of sugar cane and in composting.
To present the concrete results of this program, Coopercitrus will implement a demonstration field at the Coopercitrus Credicitrus Foundation, combining the pillars of biological control for the production system. This will provide members with the opportunity to see, first-hand, the positive impacts of Bio Solutions on citrus crops.
