Cooperativa Comigo opens, next Saturday, January 20th, its new Storage Unit, located in Mineiros/GO. The structure is the largest in the state of Goiás, with static storage capacity for 3,3 million bags of grain, which will be used for soybeans and corn. The unit is located on Rodovia BR 364, km 312, s/n, in the Rural Zone of Mineiros.
For the president of Comigo's board of directors, Antonio Chavaglia, this is an achievement not only for the cooperative members, but for the development of agribusiness, as the cooperative invests in an area often forgotten by other companies in the sector: the storage of grains. “The producer will have the conditions, ease and agility to deliver the grains there, it is a very significant investment”, highlights the president.
Around R$150 million is being invested in construction, the majority of which comes from the cooperative's own resources, as the construction of the unit meets the requests of cooperative members in the region. “The warehouses are made to meet the member’s demand, which is the main reason the cooperative exists”, justifies Chavaglia, reinforcing the importance of investment in storage for local producers and those in neighboring cities: “we have this strong connection with the member and with the rural producer and, those producers who do not have a warehouse, sometimes have difficulty delivering, which is why the cooperative has a lot of storage capacity”. Statistics state that, currently, Comigo receives around 20% of soy from the state of Goiás.
In addition to the impressive volume of capacity, the unit is one of the most modern in the cooperative: it has automation in all grain reception and drying processes, with a complete structure including scales, aeration system, thermometry and mainly two dryers with capacity to 150 ton/h, which should speed up the grain arrival process and reduce queues, as Comigo's executive president, Dourivan Cruvinel, explains: “the cooperative member today needs agility, both in reception and dispatch”.
The executive president also explains that the choice of location to install the unit was based on the strong growth not only of the municipality, but of the entire region, which is also in a good geographic location. “It’s because of the strength of the municipality, almost entirely focused on agricultural activity, where we already have many cooperative members even though we’ve only been there for three years, so it’s a beautiful investment to further cooperate with the development of this region”, says Dourivan.
According to the unit manager, Leandro Alves Nascimento, everything is ready to receive grain. To this end, the unit generated new jobs in the city, and should generate even more during the harvest: “there are 60 direct jobs, and this number could double during the harvest, with 120 workers during the period, including harvest workers. ”, he states. The manager also guarantees the proper functioning of the unit, following the agility that agriculture needs: “the field today is highly technological, and the region lacked storage that was up to the technology used in the field”.
