Tire manufacturer Continental has opened a fully automated high-capacity warehouse in Otrokovice, Czech Republic. The warehouse has capacity for more than 930 thousand tires. With this facility, Continental centralizes its warehouses in the Otrokovice region. The objective is to optimize logistics processes and reduce CO2 emissions.

The new warehouse is 43 meters tall, equivalent to the Statue of Liberty in New York. It occupies an area of 10 thousand square meters. It has tall shelves and narrow aisles for vertical and horizontal storage. Automated mobile forklifts move tires stored on pallets.

The energy used in the warehouse comes from renewable sources. Since the end of 2020, all Continental production facilities have followed this practice. This is in line with the criteria of the global RE100 initiative.
