USA: new decision in case related to Roundup
In John Carson v. Monsanto, arguments presented by Bayer were rejected
The concession of BR-163 was the subject of a meeting this Tuesday (12.07), at the headquarters of the Association of Soy and Corn Producers of Mato Grosso (Aprosoja-MT), bringing together rural producers, mayors, the board of directors of the National Land Transport (ANTT), senator Fábio Garcia, among other leaders from the northern region.
According to the vice-president of Aprosoja-MT, Lucas Costa Beber, the objective was to show the urgency of the demands from city halls and the population with the duplication of the highway, which is known as the “highway of death” due to the high rate of accidents. , and also show its importance for the flow of state production.
“On this occasion, the ANTT board showed the status of the signing of the addendum to the concession with CRO (Concessionária Rota do Oeste) for subsequent new bidding. Furthermore, it confirmed to us the priority in the works of ETCs (Cargo Transshipment Stations) for grain transport in the northern region of Brazil, including Miritituba (PA)”, highlighted the vice-president.
The general director of ANTT, Rafael Vitale, said that he is sensitive to the outbursts and concerns of Mato Grosso leaders about the issue of CRO on BR-163, but argued that, as a regulatory agency, it has limits of action, however, it is committed to working to resolve the problems.
“We will seek to speed up the work, with the aim of reducing deadlines and ensuring the assertiveness of the process, with the commitment to take all this information to the Ministry. We also intend to get closer and closer to parliament, even to be able to find other types of more structural solutions in the short term, we want to leave here hand in hand with all of you”, said Vitale.
For the mayor of Sorriso, Ariflan Lafin, the two-year deadline for a new BR-163 concession should not impede other emergency measures on the highway, in order to prevent new accidents and deaths, in addition to contributing to the region's economic growth. at a rate of 20% per year, generating employment and income for the population.
“We need the ANTT board to take this message to Brasília, because, in addition to preserving lives, the highway is fundamental to enhancing the production of grains, meat and the installation of new industries, with this, we will continue contributing to growth for the nation”, pointed out the mayor who made the regional consortium – Cidesa – available to take over the administration of the highway.
The mayor of Nova Ubiratã, Neninho da Nevada, asked managers for attention to improve actions on the highway before the rainy season and also called for a faster alternative to meet the demands that are old for the BR-163.
“The impression I sometimes have is that we are going back in time, we are having to leave a day earlier to get to Cuiabá so we can do our schedules here. Perhaps the federal, state and municipal governments, as well as entities in the productive sector and other leaders, need to sit together to find the fastest ways to provide answers to the population”, emphasized the mayor.
Among the authorities who participated were also the directors of ANTT, Guilherme Sampaio and Davi Barreto (and their respective teams), the mayors of Feliz Natal, José Antônio Dubiella, of Itanhangá, Edu Laudi Pascoski, Nova Mutum, Leandro Felix Pereira, of Nova Ubiratã, Edegar José Bernardi, from Santa Rita do Trivelato, Egon Hoepers, as well as councilors, regional delegates from Aprosoja-MT and other leaders from the northern region of the State.
