Technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) began to survey, this Monday (6), for the first time, the cost of coffee production in the municipalities of Vitória da Conquista (Arabica variety) and Itamaraju (conilon variety), in the south of Bahia, and Jaguaré (conilon), in the north of Espírito Santo.
The values will support the calculation of the minimum price, which is carried out by Conab for the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy (PGPM). For a week, technicians from the Agribusiness Information Superintendence will collect information on expenses in the implementation, formation and production of coffee, completing reports made up of more than 300 items, such as soil preparation, planting, fertilization, cultural treatments and mechanization.
For the survey, panels will also be held with the participation of representatives from rural unions, cooperatives, public bodies, producers and agricultural technicians, as well as financial agents and consultants linked to agriculture.
Completion of the calculation should take 30 days. The value of the production cost will be used by Conab's Supply Management Superintendence to define a minimum price proposal to be submitted to the National Treasury.
