Center of Excellence in Sugarcane launched in Ribeirão Preto
Institution will develop technologies for the sugar and alcohol sector
Despite the reduction in rainfall in the center-south of the country, conditions during the first weeks of April were favorable for the development of second-crop corn in the main producing states, due to water storage in the soil. The information comes from the Agricultural Monitoring Bulletin (BMA), published this week by the National Supply Company (Conab).
This edition of the study covers agricultural monitoring of the country's main grain producing regions, considering summer crops, Harvest 2021/2022, during the period from April 1 to 21, 2022 and can be accessed on the Conab page, on the Internet .
In the states of Mato Grosso and Paraná, the largest producers of second-crop corn, spectral data are reflecting the good condition of crops through positive anomalies in the Vegetation Index (IV) and its evolution above the average and that of the past harvest.
Only in Minas Gerais, western Bahia and parts of São Paulo and Goiás were there restrictions due to lack of rain and low moisture available in the soil, impacting crop development and resulting in negative anomalies.
The study - The BMA is the result of a partnership between Conab, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) and the Global Agriculture Monitoring Group (Glam). The study provides information on agrometeorological conditions and the interpretation of crop behavior in satellite images and in the field. This information serves as input for making harvest estimates made by the Company every month.
