Meeting paid tribute to producers and technicians who developed practices that boosted productivity
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) is finalizing procedures to offer part of Conab's (National Supply Company) corn stocks located in Mato Grosso and meet demand from breeders, according to the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy.
Corn prices in the state rose sharply at the beginning of the year, explained Secretary Eduardo Sampaio. In this first fortnight of the month, product prices, averaging R$27/60 kg, are 23% above what was recorded in March last year. The situation, according to the secretary, is due to the reduction in supply in the off-season, making supply difficult for consumers and poultry, pig and cattle breeders in the state.
“To minimize the situation, we are working so that Conab launches corn auctions in the state this month,” he informed. Conab's stocks are the result of the exercise of option contracts launched in 2017.
