Minister speaks to European ambassadors about sustainability in Brazilian agriculture
The agreement between Mercosur and the European Union was also discussed at the meeting
Brazil loses in the transportation of grains from highways to shipping ports for export, especially rice, wheat and corn, percentages of 0,13%, 0,17% and 0,10%, respectively, according to research carried out by Companhia Nacional of Supply (Conab), in partnership with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
The indices, which also include storage losses, will be released this Tuesday (5), during the XNUMXst Seminar on Efficiency and Loss Reduction in Grain Storage and Transport in Brazil, in Curitiba/PR.
The losses of these grains, according to the study, are basically caused by three factors that correlate, namely “the poor condition of the highways, the precariousness of the truck fleet and the recklessness of drivers”, he concludes.
The study also found that rice, whose largest national production comes from the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Tocantins, has a variation of 1,5 to 4% in losses when stored in silos. The researchers highlighted, however, the good health conservation of the grains both in the storage and industrialization and commercialization segments.
As for wheat, the calculation reached an average monthly rate of technical breakage in grains, calculated through sampling, of 0,43% for masonry silos and 0,11% for metal silos.
The studies will be disseminated during the seminar and the presentation of technical articles relating to each of the research studies will be available on the Conab portal after the end of the event.
