By November this year, the National Supply Company (Conab) – linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – must complete the census of public and private warehouses in the main Brazilian agricultural regions. More than 5.300 warehouses in 767 municipalities are responding to issues such as static capacity, reception and dispatch of products, weighing system, sampling and security, among other issues.
The survey is a priority for Minister Kátia Abreu (Agriculture, Livestock and Supply). According to her, this data is important to assess the needs of the storage sector.
The census complies with legislation, in addition to responding to registration requests from the private sector interested in providing services to the federal government. Around R$1 million will be spent on this operation.
The program of the team of 121 technicians began last month in Rio Grande do Sul, with visits to 275 warehouses. This month, operations are scheduled in Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Espírito Santo, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, totaling around 4 thousand pieces of equipment and, in April, Goiás and Bahia will enter. The closure lasts until November, in the case of Santa Catarina. In other states, it will take place between April and June.
