Between April 5th and 23rd, the National Supply Company (Conab) will make the platform available for rice, coffee and wheat producers and industries to participate in research on private stocks. The survey will be carried out in all regions of the country and will show the volume available for each product for sale.
The information is also used in the development of public policies and in private sector actions, especially with regard to the population's food and nutritional supply. What's new this year is that, for the first time, data on wheat stocks will be collected in the system, based on data provided from both producers and industries as well as storers in all states.
The research considers March 31st as the base date for recording stocks, and the store can also record the product from the current and/or previous harvests. The stock must be reported by storage unit, registered or not by Conab, and characterized by type: product in husk or processed, in the case of rice, and arabica or conilon, in the case of coffee. In relation to wheat, it is just the cereal grain. It should be noted, however, that the data provided will be disclosed in aggregate form by state, respecting confidentiality.
The platform used to receive the data is the Private Stock Research System (Sipesp) from Conab. Storage units already registered in this system receive an access password to send information electronically, through Sipesp's own interface. Those who do not have a registration, or who do not have an email address, can fill out the form available on the Company's website and contact the Conab regional superintendencies team in your state or at the Headquarters, in Brasília.
It is worth noting that stockers who do not have stocks, or who do not work with the products listed on the date in question, must also participate in the research. To do this, simply indicate the options “out of stock” or “does not store” on the form.
“This information, in addition to contributing to our database, is fundamental for the national management of stocks”, explains the director of Agricultural Policy and Information at Conab, Sergio De Zen. “In addition, this research carried out annually by the Company is used by federal government bodies, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) and others, for government planning and in the formulation of public policies to promote agricultural production, to guarantee the regularity of food supply. Therefore, the participation of all storage agents in the country is essential.”
