Comfrio, the largest cold logistics intelligence company for the food chain and agribusiness in Latin America, opened its unit in Itumbiara (GO) on August 2, focused on seed storage operations. With this, the company concludes investments of R$180 million in strengthening its operations in the agro sector. In addition to the new unit in Itumbiara, the company invested in the expansion and construction of units in Uberlândia (Minas Gerais), Cuiabá and Lucas do Rio Verde (Mato Grosso).

With these new operations, the company, present in all regions of Brazil through 28 units, doubles its storage capacity for agribusiness. From now on, it can account for up to 10 million bags of stored corn and soybean seeds. In the corn market specifically, Comfrio increases its market share in Brazil to 50%. If the volume of corn seeds stored by the companies themselves is discounted, the rate jumps to 70%.

"We will consolidate our position in the agro segment, which has already been strongly boosted since the acquisition of Bestway in 2020", explains Sidney Catania, CEO of Comfrio. "In addition to increasing our capacity and geographic presence, we will also expand our portfolio of services for the agro segment, bringing to the market solutions in storage, seed treatment and chemical sales - always working exclusively with inputs related to the seed treatment activity ", he adds.

"The company invested R$45 million to bring to Itumbiara the most modern seed storage in Brazil", says Fábio Badaró, the company's agribusiness director. The new unit, which has an area of 20 thousand m², has a drive-in platform and a high level of service and intelligence. "The entire volume of cargo moved will be controlled by bar code, the reading of which uses radio frequency technology recorded electronically by the WMS (Warehouse Management System). This enables real-time visibility and traceability of stock, transport status and performance of operations. Such automation guarantees total precision and control", details Badaró.

Partner of the biggest players in the seed segment across the globe, such as Corteva, Bayer, Syngenta, Nutrien, Advanta, Stine and Basf, Comfrio maintains units focused on agribusiness in five states: Minas Gerais, Goiás, São Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso - all in strategic locations and close to the main planting centers in Brazil.

The company is the first logistics company in the country that offers its customers in the agro sector - from multinationals to regional seed companies - the option of industrial seed treatment, which maintains vigor and excellent germination quality.

By offering the service, the company, in addition to reducing risks for producers, increases human and environmental safety and brings benefits to farmers such as superior operational capacity, practicality, greater efficiency and, mainly, reducing the timing between the application of products chemicals and biologicals in the seeds and their shipping. “The shorter the window between seed processing and planting, the better,” explains Catania. The intention is that between the 2021 harvest and the beginning of the 2022 harvest, Comfrio will treat 20 thousand tons of soybean and corn seeds at the company's unit in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), where machinery with the capacity to treat 24 tons is maintained. of seeds per hour, whether from a single or multiple crops.
