Cold front hits part of the South and Southeast regions in the coming days, indicates Inmet

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) predicts the occurrence of large volumes of rain in the coming days, with thunderstorms and possible hail, mainly in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. The instability gains strength as the hot air from Central and Southeast Brazil meets the cold air south of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. 

Until next Wednesday (27), the forecast indicates volumes of around 100 millimeters (mm), which could exceed this value in part of Rio Grande do Sul, especially from the central strip to the east of the state, in addition to the surrounding areas of the region. Due to the formation of a new low pressure system (extratropical cyclone) on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul, at the end of this Tuesday (26) and throughout Wednesday, there will be an increase in the intensity of wind gusts in the state, surpassing 70 km/h.

The cyclone will move to the high seas on Wednesday, organizing a cold front and causing storms between Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

On Thursday (28), temperatures will also drop sharply in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, with minimums of approximately 3ºC in Campanha and Serra Gaúcha, and 9°C in Porto Alegre.
