The price of ground and whole coffee beans continues to put a strain on Brazilian consumers' pockets: it increased by 8,9% between December 2024 and January 2025. This is what the latest survey “Price Variations: Brazil & Regions”, conducted by Neogrid, indicates. According to the new survey, the average price of the product rose from R$53,90 to R$58,68 in the period analyzed.
Coffee led the biggest price increases last year, with an increase of up to 46,1% year-on-year. Now, in the first monitoring of 2025, it continues to lead this list, remaining one of the products that most impacts family budgets in the country.
“This increase is a result of adverse weather conditions in 2024 and high production costs involving, for example, fertilizers, energy and labor, which continue to put pressure on prices,” explains Robson Munhoz, Director of Corporate Relations at Neogrid.
According to the Neogrid study, in addition to grain, other items showed significant price variation, such as beef (3,4%), eggs (2,1%), mineral water (1,9%) and shampoo (1,7%).
In the southern region, eggs showed a strong increase of 16,4%, followed by ground and whole coffee beans (11,6%) and cheese (3,1%). On the other hand, vegetables had a significant drop of -6,8%, followed by pork (-6,5%) and rice (-2,7%).
