Technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) are carrying out field research until the 21st of this month in the state of Minas Gerais, with the aim of collecting information about coffee crops and helping to compose the 3rd Harvest Survey of Coffee 2021.
The focus of the work is to verify the areas in production, formation and productivity of the current harvest. The climatic factors that affected crops, the behavior of rural credit and phytotechnical analyzes (attack of pests and diseases, management systems, among others) will also be evaluated.
Rural properties, cooperatives, among other partners, located in 114 municipalities in Minas Gerais that produce the crop will be visited. As it is a negative biennial harvest and, consequently, is characterized as a smaller harvest than the 2020 harvest, a lower production potential is expected. In its latest estimate, Conab pointed to a 32,6% reduction in production for this 2021 harvest for the state. Additionally, information will be collected on the effect of frost on the current and next harvest.
The consolidated data from the work will be presented together with information from the other producing states, on September 21st, in a bulletin published on the Conab website and in a presentation on the Company's YouTube channel.
