According to a new survey by Neogrid, coffee was the item with the greatest positive price variation in the South region in March. The average price of the product – both in powder and in beans – rose 10,4% in the month, even surpassing the national average, which was 7,3%.
The survey “Price Variations: Brazil & Regions”, carried out by the technology and data intelligence company, shows that the average price of coffee in the country jumped from R$62,78 to R$67,39 between February and March.
According to Anna Carolina Fercher, strategic data leader at Neogrid, the increase is a consequence of factors such as high logistics costs, reduced supply and climate impacts in producing regions, such as droughts and heat waves. “These factors have compromised productivity and increased production costs,” she explains.
In the period from 2025 to March, coffee has seen a 25% increase, being the second item with the greatest variation in the country, behind only eggs (32,4%).
Still in the South, other products that showed an increase were UHT milk (2,7%) and eggs (1,9%). On the other hand, categories such as beans (-6,8%) and rice (-3,7%) registered a decrease in the period.
