Important names in Brazilian agribusiness have already been confirmed to debate the importance of the Vegetable Chain for the sector during the 7th edition of the CNMA - National Congress of Women in Agribusiness, which, this year, has as its theme “Coordination of production chains in agribusiness, the decade decisive!”
The plant chain assumes a new prominent role in national agriculture, integrating the fundamental spaces of science and bringing countless opportunities for research in genetics, in which knowledge of genes will exponentially increase the productivity of vegetables per hectare, as well as increasing agro-industrial use of nutrients, proteins and energy.
“We will move towards production focused on science, digital management, traceability, sustainable land use and risk management. As an example, increasing the planning of harvest targets with national input structures, with genetic security, in addition to storage, irrigation and links with rural customers, national agribusinesses and international trading companies”, highlights the Partner-Director of Biomarketing and curator of event content, José Luiz Tejon.
The agenda of the “Vegetable Chain” round table, which will be held on the first day of the event, October 26, encompasses topics such as governance, coordination vision and research in the area of genetics. Among the names already confirmed are the Executive President of the Brazilian Wheat Industry Association (Abitrigo), Rubens Barbosa; the Executive Director of the Brazilian Association of Corn Producers (Abramilho), Glauber Silveira; and the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo, Francisco Matturro.
The vegetable chain has a significant presence and participation in Brazilian agribusiness. Wheat has always had a smaller position because its production was limited and stagnant, a situation that is changing rapidly, as explained by the Executive President of Abitrigo, Rubens Barbosa. “In the last three years, production has jumped to more than 10 million tons and exports to more than 3 million tons. In a few years, Brazil will become self-sufficient in wheat and, like soybeans and corn, will be a net exporter to the global market. New areas, in addition to Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná, will be responsible for the growth of the sector, such as the north of the Cerrado, the south of Ceará and Piauí, among others, with investment opportunities for producers and the industry”. Wheat is beginning to emerge with the prospect of success in the context of national agribusiness, this topic will be raised by Barbosa during the panel at the CNMA.
At the other end of the debate, Brazilian corn is highlighted and will be addressed by Abramilho's Executive Director, Glauber Silveira. “Corn has given food sustainability to Brazil and more than 40 countries. Being present at the CNMA will be an opportunity to speak and present the challenges and opportunities in the sector that are fundamental to consolidating this security”, he points out.
