CNH partners with Starlink to connect agricultural machinery

CNH has announced an agreement with Starlink, a SpaceX company, to bring satellite connectivity to agricultural machinery from the brands Case IH, New Holland and Steyr. The partnership aims to ensure robust and affordable internet even in the most isolated rural regions of the world.

Starlink’s low-latency satellite connection will enable tractors and combines to communicate with each other and with digital platforms like FieldOps, which provides remote visibility into operations. The technology keeps farm management devices online throughout the field, enhancing the use of CNH’s precision agriculture solutions.

One of the highlights is the application in prescription spraying. With the FieldXplorer platform, drone images are transformed into maps that identify weeds. The new connectivity allows this information to be sent almost immediately to the equipment. This anticipates spraying and control of invasive plants, which favors crop yields.

CNH highlights that internet access in rural areas continues to be a challenge, especially in markets such as Brazil. With the new partnership, producers will be able to fully benefit from the features of the company's smart machines, even far from large centers.
