CNH Industrial presents T7.270 Methane Power CNG at Agritechnica

CNH Industrial, through New Holland Agriculture, informs that it will present the T7.270 Methane Power CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) tractor to the public.

According to a company statement, "New Holland adds another important milestone to the Clean Energy Leader strategy."

Based on the T7 with PLM Intelligence platform, with the Horizon Ultra cab, the tractor features the 6,7-liter NEF engine fueled by methane, already established in the T6.180 Methane Power tractor, but with greater power. According to CNH Industrial, "the engine's maximum torque is 1.160 Nm and produces a maximum of 270 hp in all conditions."

With a volume of 1.265 liters (219kg on board), the T7.270 CNG holds 178% more fuel than the T6.180 Methane Power (455 liters/79kg). With a larger chassis, the T7 increases the possibility of gas storage.

As methane is a "cleaner burning" fuel, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is not required", freeing up space for fuel storage, the company's statement said. Additionally, the T7.270 Methane Power CNG can be used with all methane and biomethane from livestock manure and slurry.

The new T7.270 Methane Power CNG also features a CVT (continuously variable transmission), providing a smoother driving experience. The CVT makes this tractor particularly suitable for trailers weighing over 18t.

Although similar to the diesel-powered T7.270, the T7.270 Methane Power CNG differs in a few areas. Underneath the cab, the design is significantly different, with new cab supports and the battery moved to the left side to make room for a larger gas tank. The cabin is the award-winning Horizon Ultra, with an "internal noise level of just 66 decibels", points out CNH Industrial. The Horizon Ultra offers 8% more internal volume, providing more operator and storage space.

Like other T7 models, the T7.270 Methane Power CNG benefits from New Holland's PLM Intelligence solutions, which integrate digital technologies to enable bi-directional transfer of machine and field data between the tractor and the MyPLMConnect online portal, enabling owners and managers monitor machines and dealers – with permission – to provide remote support.

The new T7.270 Methane Power CNG on display at the New Holland stand at Agritechnica 2023 also features the New Holland Clean Blue color launched at CNH Industrial Tech Day 2022.

According to the company, the first production T7.270 Methane Power CNG tractors are undergoing testing during the summer of 2023. Units will be available for purchase in the second half of 2024.
