CNH Industrial announced today (18/1) a minority investment in the American agricultural technology company EarthOptics through its subsidiary "Ventures".

EarthOptics' patented sensor technology accurately measures soil structure through a combination of ground-based sensors, satellites, physical soil samples, machine learning models and agronomic expertise.

This information can help producers drive a range of improvements, from increasing crop production to reducing fertilizer application and assessing the carbon impact of their farm, to name a few key areas.

This funding -- part of EarthOptics' series B investment -- will help develop its suite of sensors. It will also allow the company to expand cooperation with service providers to obtain data.

CNH Industrial will begin a pilot phase of testing EarthOptics soil sensing technology through our Case IH brand this year (2023). Commercial plans will be the subject of future announcements. The objective of this technology is to accelerate our work in crop automation and provide greater agronomic knowledge to customers.

Among the partner companies of EarthOptics, there are several well-known names, such as Bayer, Syngenta, Hatteras, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Elanco.
