The Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA) participated in the 8th Meeting of the Technical Committee of the Coffee Policy Deliberative Council (CT/CDPC), held at the Ministry of Agriculture. The meeting discussed several actions carried out with resources from the Coffee Economy Defense Fund (Funcafé), the budget execution for the 2023/2024 harvest and the proposal for allocating budget resources between the financing lines for the 2024/2025 harvest.
The volume of Funcafé resources approved exceeded the figure of R$6,88 billion, an increase of 8% compared to the resources made available in the previous year, which was R$6,3 billion.
The president of the National Coffee Commission, Fabrício Andrade, said that, despite the good result and more resources made available in all lines of financing, the producers' requests were partially met. “We requested a greater volume of resources for the cost line, but we were partially met. We also defend more attractive and viable interest rates for rural producers,” he said.
For this year's financial year, the R$6,88 billion was distributed among the financing lines: working capital (R$1,01 billion), marketing (R$2,49 billion), funding (R$1,73, 1,61 billion), acquisition of coffee (R$ 30 billion) and recovery of coffee plantations (R$ XNUMX million).
CNA's technical advisor, Raquel Miranda, also participated in the meeting. The CT-CDPC is made up of representatives from the government and the coffee production sector. By the end of April, the Coffee Policy Deliberative Council will meet to deliberate on the decisions of the Technical Committee.
