Brazil exports 13,6 million bags of coffee in the year to May
Volume represents a drop of 19% compared to the same period in 2022 and reflects a slower start to the harvest and the little coffee remaining after two smaller harvests
The president of the National Coffee Commission of the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA), Fabrício Andrade, had a meeting schedule in Campinas (SP) on topics related to the management of the production chain from the perspective of sustainability.
On Tuesday (13/06), he participated in a 4C Certification event, where points such as new requirements for coffee exports and the latest advances in sustainability certifications were discussed, with the presence of experts and global coffee growing representatives.
“Currently, sustainable initiatives are connected to all aspects involved in coffee production. These actions need to be worked on as an opportunity to add value. There is a large portion of consumers attracted to sustainable products”, highlighted Andrade.
According to him, Brazil is at an advanced level of sustainability in coffee production, which reinforces the country's favorable moment in the global market.
“We need to effectively communicate the results achieved by Brazilian coffee farming in sustainability and social prosperity to guarantee the supply of high-quality, food-safe and consistent coffees to the world market”, he added.
On Monday (12/06), Andrade attended a meeting promoted by the Global Coffee Platform (GCP). The CNA is a member of the GCP and will participate in the General Assembly of Members, which will take place on June 27, in Germany.
GCP is a global non-governmental organization focused on the sustainability and prosperity of coffee producers.
According to GCP CEO, Janete Pensel, CNA's participation is important to "give a voice" to Brazilian coffee farmers in building the Platform's agenda.”
