The Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA) participated in discussions on the regulation of the wine sector and the pricing of industrial grapes at a meeting of the Sectoral Chamber of Viticulture, Wines and Derivatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, on Wednesday (19/04) .

CNA has been talking to rural producers to raise demands for the new wine law, which is being drafted by the government and the production sector.

Regarding the price of industrial grapes, participants highlighted the need for alignment between sectoral links to make pricing in line with the demands of producers and industries.

According to the Confederation's representative, Elson Schneider, the pricing of industrial grapes is linked to the minimum price, an indicator based on variable costs that is not a market metric and results in restrictive margins for the producer.

“Currently the prices charged are making the activity economically unfeasible,” he said.
