Fruit cultivation is gaining ground both for fresh consumption and for wine production. State occupies 10th position in the national ranking
The president of the National Commission for Cereals, Fibers and Oilseeds of the CNA, Ricardo Arioli, and the technical advisor, Tiago Pereira, participated, on Tuesday (09/08), in a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) to discuss the ABC+ Plan and the National Program for Decarbonization of Agricultural Chains.
The general coordinator of Climate Change, Planted Forests and Conservationist Agriculture of Mapa, Soraya Carvalho Barrios de Araújo, presented the second phase of the ABC Plan, called ABC+, which has as its novelty the introduction of new technologies, such as irrigation systems and bioinputs.
According to her, the governance model being designed will feature state action plans, observing the peculiarities of each region of the country and a national system for managing the data generated. “It is important that information, technologies and training on low-carbon agriculture reach the cutting edge, and for this reason the partnership with CNA/Senar is very important for us”.
Soraya also recalled Mapa's successful partnerships with the CNA/Senar System, such as the Vertentes Project and the Rural Landscapes Project.
Marcella Alves Teixeira, general coordinator of Animal Production at Mapa, spoke about the National Program for Decarbonization of Agricultural Chains, a voluntary program so that producers are recognized for the good practices they have implemented for years.
The Program is based on three axes (mitigation, carbon sequestration and capture), defining the minimum guidelines for certification. In this way, the generation of carbon credits will meet the basic assumptions.
Marcella comments that the Program is being designed with a scientific basis so that the producer can benefit by strengthening the image and adding value, as well as generating other assets and income.
For the president of the National Commission for Cereals, Fibers and Oilseeds of the CNA, Ricardo Arioli, producers are in a hurry to see the results that this new market can generate.
“Encouraging the adoption of good practices is fundamental and the CNA/Senar System will play an important role in promoting the principles of continuous improvement of rural properties. We have to include rural producers in the leadership and development of these projects.”
