Embrapa begins studies to identify anomaly that has been attacking papaya trees in Roraima
The anomaly, which still has an unknown cause, was observed in plants in the municipalities of Bonfim, Alto Alegre, Boa Vista and Rorainópolis
The corn crop continues to show excellent development in Rio Grande do Sul, with ideal humidity conditions for the crops, which are in the grain filling (38%) and flowering (20%) phase. According to the Economic Information released by Emater/RS-Ascar, the plantations have an intense green color, indicating plants without water or nutritional deficiency, with the expectation of high grain yield and the possibility of exceeding the initial estimate, which is becoming confirming in some areas already harvested, although they represent only 0,5% of the total planted in the State.
Cornfields do not have major problems with pests, despite the fall armyworm attack, which has been intensifying in afternoon crops, even in hybrids with BT technology. When it comes to corn for silage, some farmers are experiencing difficulties ensiling. According to Emater/RS-Ascar, due to excess humidity, in certain situations it is not possible to cut at the best time, causing ensiled crops to go beyond the ideal point and resulting in a lower quality product.
In relation to soybeans, another summer grain, the development of the crop continues to be considered good, despite some crops having suffered from the heavy rains of recent days, leaving them with uneven stands. The technicians who accompany the Technical Reference Units have already identified rust in all regions of RS, although it is still at an early stage. The recommendation is that soybean farmers be cautious when applying fungicides, in order to avoid waste and increased costs with unnecessary applications.
