The Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies approved Bill 1536/2024, authored by federal deputy Luciano Zucco (PL-RS), which grants remission and postpones the payment of installments due and falling due in 2024 of financing related to the agricultural sector. The measure is limited to areas effectively affected by extreme weather events that occurred in municipalities in the State of Rio Grande do Sul with a state of public calamity or emergency situation recognized by the Federal Executive Branch. The project now goes to the Federal Senate for analysis.

According to the project, to access the benefits, rural producers must present a technical report confirming material losses, signed by a professional or qualified entity. The approval of these losses will be carried out through georeferencing of the affected areas. The postponed amounts will maintain the current financial charges, without additional fines, late payments or other charges for non-payment or legal fees.

The extension of debts will not prevent the contracting of new rural credit operations, nor will it result in producers being registered in restrictive registers. During the postponement period, judicial and tax executions and procedural deadlines relating to renegotiated installments will be suspended.
