Rice planting area increases in Rio Grande do Sul

Cotton farmers with farms certified by the Responsible Brazilian Cotton (ABR – 2023/2024 harvest) program, from the Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (Abrapa), can now qualify for a 0,5% discount on the interest rates for financing the 2024/2025 Harvest Plan. The benefit is due to the recognition of the Responsible Brazilian Cotton (ABR) program as eligible for the Brasil Agro Mais Sustentável program, as previously anticipated by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, during the 14th Brazilian Cotton Congress (14th CBA).
To access the discount, cotton farmers who meet the requirements must be registered on the Agro Brasil Mais Sustentável platform by June 30. The first step is to contact the respective state associations.
According to Abrapa president Gustavo Piccoli, the incentive represents direct recognition for those who adopt sustainable practices in cotton production. “We are committed to strengthening Brazil’s position as a reference in responsible cotton, consolidating our leadership as the world’s largest exporter of the fiber,” Piccoli emphasized.
For Carlos Fávaro, the financial gain is an additional advantage for those who demonstrate a commitment to social and environmental responsibility. “The cotton sector was the first production chain to benefit from this initiative, showing that it is aligned with the vision of sustainability,” said the minister.
