The allocation of more than R$65 million from the Central-West Constitutional Fund (FCO) to agricultural enterprises in 26 municipalities in Goiás was approved at a meeting of the Deliberative Chamber of the State Development Council (CDE/FCO). On that occasion, 43 consultation letters were approved with forecasts for investment in productive activities, especially in the areas of soy/corn, sugar cane and cattle farming.
Most of the resources were allocated to small-medium-sized properties (41,7%), for investments, in particular, in agricultural machinery and implements. “The approval of these values by the FCO is an incentive to strengthen rural properties in Goiás. With investment in machines and implements, as well as in matrices and breeders, irrigation systems, soil correction and others, agricultural enterprises in Goiás can expand their production, which also generates employment and brings benefits to several other sectors”, highlights the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), Pedro Leonardo Rezende.
The municipalities of Goiatuba, Itumbiara, Rio Verde, Morrinhos and Silvânia are the headquarters of the projects with the majority of resources approved for financing. With the completion of the contract, another R$ 65 million in own resources should be added to the more than R$ 11,6 million, totaling R$ 76,6 million in investment. There is also the expectation of generating 69 direct jobs in the activities that will receive the benefits.
The Central-West Constitutional Fund (FCO) was created by the Federal Constitution of 1988 and regulated by Law No. 7.827, of 27/09/1989. Its objective is to promote the economic and social development of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District, through financing of productive activities. It is divided into two modalities, FCO Empresarial and FCO Rural, supplied with resources from rates of 0,6% of Income Tax (IR) and Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI), as well as returns on financing. The following can request resources from the FCO: rural producers and companies, individuals and legal entities, and production cooperatives.
The numbers cited above do not include projects in the Integrated Development Region of the Federal District and Surroundings (Ride). The Deliberative Chamber of the State Development Council (CDE) analyzes financing proposals above R$500 thousand.
Since 2019, 3.654 consultation letters have been approved to the Central-West Constitutional Fund, in the Rural modality (FCO Rural), with a total value of R$4,6 billion, for projects in 193 municipalities in Goiás. The activity that raised the most resources so far was soybean/corn (61,8%).
