The products will be sold later this year, informs Superbac; company has ambitious growth goals for the coming time
Cooperativa Castrolanda, located in Castro, Paraná, presented its 2023 financial statement at the 73rd Ordinary General Assembly. Gross revenue reached R$6,7 billion, a reduction of 7,4% compared to the previous year. The cooperative will distribute R$57,4 million in surplus to its members. The drop in revenue is attributed to the decrease in the prices of commodities, agricultural inputs and the sale of the Meat Industrial Unit to Aurora Coop. Despite the challenges, Castrolanda stands out for its financial strength and growth in areas such as milk and grain production.
Executive director Seung Lee emphasized the cooperative's resilience in the face of market adversities. Castrolanda managed not only to remain financially stable, but also to provide security and support to its members. This aspect is crucial to the continued success of the associated producers’ businesses.
In terms of growth, the cooperative saw an increase in the number of active members, from 1.197 in 2022 to 1.258 in 2023, a growth of 5%. Support for cooperative members is reinforced by 2.224 employees distributed across 28 units in the states of Paraná and São Paulo.
Productivity also showed positive numbers, with records in milk and grain production. The dairy chain produced 504 million liters of milk, an increase of 6,7% compared to the previous year. Grain production reached 708 thousand tons, 2,9% more than in 2022. Furthermore, the cooperative reported the production of 53,3 thousand tons of pork, 588,5 thousand tons of feed, 24,3 thousand tons of industrial seeds, 82,9 thousand tons of consumer potatoes, 11,6 thousand tons of seed potatoes and 189 tons of sheep meat.
The sale of the Meat Industrial Unit, responsible for the Alegra brand, to Aurora Coop, was one of the factors that impacted Castrolanda's revenue. The unit was part of Unium, an intercooperation brand that also includes the Frísia and Capal cooperatives, with Castrolanda responsible for operation and administration.
