Today and tomorrow, Castrolanda hosts the second edition of the Cevada Rally. The event combines a regular competition with technical knowledge about the culture in the region. The initiative comes from the six cooperatives involved in the Maltaria Campos Gerais (MCG) project: Agrária, Bom Jesus, Capal, Castrolanda, Coopagrícola and Frísia. The organization also has the support of Ihara, ABC Foundation and FAPA.
According to Castrolanda's Agricultural Assistance Coordinator, Rudinei Bogorni, the Barley Rally aims to promote the cultivation of brewing barley among members and other farmers in the Campos Gerais region.
It is a time of alignment, relationships with other cooperatives, exchange of technical information, transmission of knowledge to the area of technicians and producers... everything so that they can organize themselves thinking about the next harvest and understanding the details of barley cultivation in the region ”, explains the coordinator.
The program begins today (29) with the participation of producers and agricultural technicians in the ABC Foundation's Winter Technological Show, in Ponta Grossa. Afterwards, participants will go on a technical visit to the Maltaria Campos Gerais works.
Tomorrow, the schedule begins with technical presentations on barley, at Moinho Castrolanda, in Castro. The start of the Rally takes place shortly after lunch, when participants will start in front of the mill for a regularity competition on rural roads and partner properties of the event. There will be two stopping points for the discussion of four topics relating to barley.
Arrival is scheduled for 18:40 pm, also at Moinho Castrolanda, where competitors will meet the winners of the event. “The rally is a form of interaction and relaxation, while at the same time promoting barley cultivation. It is another motivator for people to participate and establish relationships with cooperatives that will deepen cultivation in the coming years”, says Rudinei.
