Case reveals Project Tetra, methane-powered concept loader

CASE Construction Equipment, a CNH Industrial brand, presented, this Monday (08), a vision of the technological and connected advances of the future of construction at the Bauma fair, in Munich, Germany, with the reveal of the Tetra Project: an unprecedented shovel concept methane-powered loader.

Developed jointly by the CNH Industrial International design and CASE engineering teams, this prototype reflects the importance of alternative fuels and demonstrates their viability in the construction environment. The concept loader engine, manufactured by FPT Industrial, can be fueled with methane and has the advantage of providing exactly the same performance as its diesel equivalent.

The thruster's efficiency matches CASE's machine style, which makes extensive use of touch screen and voice control technologies, creating an advanced operator environment. Additionally, safety features include biometrics along with an obstacle detection system, which come from CNH Industrial's autonomous vehicle research and development program.

CASE demonstrated the viability of this concept in a wide range of real-world construction environments as well as proving the business strategy, in terms of sustainability, reduced total cost of ownership and operational viability.

CASE's methane-powered concept loader is the result of CNH Industrial's long-term commitment to alternative fuel technologies and natural gas flexibility, demonstrating its viability in both on-road and off-road applications.
