Case IH launches G500V VariCut headers for Axial-Flow harvesters

Models range from 6,1 to 12,5 meters and feature improvements that increase performance

Case IH Axial-Flow harvesters can now operate with the new G500V VariCut platforms, which promise higher yields and lower operational effort. The line has seven models, with working widths between 6,1 and 12,5 meters.

The main highlight is the blade with a 575 mm displacement in the longitudinal direction, which ensures uniform crop flow in different types of crops.

On larger models, Case IH has introduced hydraulic gauge wheels that switch between transport and field modes directly from the cab. This eliminates the need for manual adjustments before loading onto the trailer.

The platform connection has been optimized: all couplings are grouped on the left side, with only one power take-off (PTO) shaft, reducing coupling and uncoupling time.

The new cutting system has an in-line linear drive, which generates less vibration. The traditional belt system has been replaced by gears and a telescopic PTO, which reduces maintenance and increases operator comfort.

In the 10,5 and 12,5 meter versions, the synchronized double drive of the knives, with the right blade driven by the feed auger, reinforces the stability of the set.

The blade speed has been increased from 660 to 735 rpm, allowing faster feed without losing cut quality. The assembly has also received improvements in the adjustment of the auger separator, which can now be adjusted from the rear of the platform. This encourages frequent checks and helps maintain uniform material flow.

The auger height adjustment has two pre-defined points: a high one for rapeseed and a low one for small grains. Changing the height requires only the loosening of four screws and the turning of a cam system, speeding up the adjustment time by 25%.

Another advancement is the new attachable side knife, with an aluminum structure. A third lighter than the previous version, it is easier to handle. A cam locking system reduces the time to remove the knife or side dividers by half.

According to Andreas Saile, Case IH’s harvesting business manager for Europe, the improvements are aimed at maximizing the efficiency of the Axial-Flow 160, 260 and new AF series models.

“From the gauge wheels to the lighter side knife, everything has been designed to speed up preparation and optimize performance in the field,” he explains.
