Harvesting in fields benefits

The week begins with the presence of a mass of polar air over the center-south, which keeps the weather open and without the possibility of rain in practically all of Brazil. The weakened presence of this system keeps temperatures low without causing any type of damage to crop productivity. Only the northern regions of the North and coastal Northeast regions have a chance of rain showers.

Until next Thursday (31), dry weather is expected to persist, when a new cold front advances through the South and brings rain to several locations in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and southern Mato Grosso do Sul, between Thursday ( 31) and Saturday (02).

The last days of May will feature open weather, without instability and temperatures within the average for this time of year. The states of Mato Grosso, Goiás, most of Minas Gerais, Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia, will also remain open and without rain throughout this week. However, June begins with rain in much of the South Region, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and southern Minas Gerais.

Crop situation

With the forecast of open weather, producers will have full conditions to carry out cultural treatments and harvest. Sugarcane crops continue to show lower productivity rates, due to the advanced age of the crops associated with low investment last year.

In coffee, very few producers have already started harvesting the first beans. The harvest is expected to start next week, in all the main producing regions. In the case of safrinha corn, harvesting has not yet started in any region of Brazil.

Wheat planting continues to advance in Paraná and south of São Paulo, as last week's rain allowed an increase in soil moisture levels, even if only partially, and thus, producers resumed such activities. In Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, wheat planting has not yet started. The expectation is that it will only start at the beginning of June.

Cotton crops in Mato Grosso, Goiás, Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia continue to show excellent vegetative development, without any occurrence of anomalies that could harm expectations of another full harvest for the sector.

There is no evidence of extremely low temperatures over the next ten days, which could lead to frost formation or crop losses in any region of Brazil.
