Capal Cooperativa Agroindustrial is one of the first cooperatives in the agricultural sector in Brazil to launch a Green Agribusiness Receivables Certificate (CRA Verde) issuance. The financial operation, which has the assistance of the companies JGP and Banco Alfa, has an allocation of R$150 million that will be allocated to sustainable development actions in the countryside.

In total, around 800 members were certified, whose properties comply with soy production, traceability and good agricultural practices, covering more than 140 thousand hectares of land.

Capal's financial director, Amilton Brambila, notes that Brazilian cooperatives are still new to this specific issuance model. For him, the operation of CRA Verde is an opportunity that will contribute to the cooperative's growth in this capital market and substantially consolidate its financial solidity, since the operation is long-term.

“Many members have the cooperative as their main source of credit to enable their production, and having this cash reinforcement with the issuance of the CRA, we will have better conditions for negotiating with suppliers and supporting members regarding sustainable actions in soy production” , explains.

Internal system

Adilson Roberto Fuga (in the photo), executive president, highlights that another mechanism played by Capal aimed at ensuring responsibility in crop management is the internal system developed by the cooperative that maps 100% of rural producers' property. The device is under the control of agricultural engineers who are part of Capal's technical assistance team.

In this system, all information relating to the property, each lot and plot of cooperative members, is recorded. The initiative has been carried out for more than 20 years, and, according to the executive president, the issuance of the Green Seal reinforces the importance of this work.
