With the aim of expanding the capacity to receive coffee production from the state of São Paulo, Capal Cooperativa Agroindustrial, with headquarters in Arapoti (PR), has just acquired three storage companies in the municipality of Piraju (SP). The three organizations, Piraju Armazéns Ltda, Pro Advanced Ltda and IBL Indústria Luso do Brasil Ltda, together have a 2,4 m² warehouse, with a storage capacity of 55 bags of coffee, in addition to a feed factory and offices.
Negotiations began at the end of 2022 and, last week, Capal definitively took over the facilities. The structure is almost four times larger compared to the Pinhalão (PR) unit, acquired in 2019, and which has a storage capacity for 15 thousand bags of coffee. With the new acquisition, the Cooperative now has 21 units.
Capal's investment is in line with the growth of coffee production in the State of São Paulo to better serve associated producers in that region. Negotiations are also related to increased sales, following the same model as Paraná, with fair prices, transparency in negotiations, trust and credibility.
“With the increase in the volume of coffee sold in São Paulo, Capal needed a base in the state. The options would be to build a structure, or buy something that already exists. The second option became more interesting as it was possible to serve members more quickly”, highlighted Adilson Roberto Fuga, executive president of Capal.
According to the president, today the coffee sales movement in São Paulo is already greater than in Paraná, which justifies the investment. From January to October this year, 75% of the coffee sold by Capal was in São Paulo, totaling 300 thousand bags in the last ten months.
