Discussing problems and alternatives for sustainable agricultural development in the Campos de Cima da Serra, Hortênsias and Serra Gaúcha Regions is the main objective of the event that will take place on November 29th, at the Campus da UCS, in Canela (RS). Promoted by the Serra Tourism Municipalities Association (Amserra), by CREA-RS and Embrapa, the event will bring together leaders, authorities, businesspeople and technicians.

For Alexander Hoffmann, head of Technology Transfer at Embrapa Uva e Vinho and one of the organizers of the event, holding the Seminar was the best way to bring together the main stakeholders to assess the current situation and sustainability of agriculture in the region, in addition to also identifying the best options for the future. "Campos de Cima da Serra has been a region covered by an economic matrix that has been diversifying, but without environmental, logistical or agronomic planning, which generates great concern for the promoting entities", he assesses.

According to information, one of the best alternatives for planned growth is the use of Territorial Intelligence. "Based on current knowledge of the region, the best bets will be identified to advance production, seeking a lower environmental impact, taking advantage of potential and, above all, guiding new investments and ensuring the continuity of tourism, which is an important economic factor in the region. region. This is what, in a simplified way, Territorial Intelligence does", he adds Hoffmann.

In order to provide Seminar participants with a practical view of the use of Territorial Intelligence, one of the speakers will be Evaristo Miranda, researcher at Embrapa Satellite Monitoring (Campinas, SP), one of the greatest Brazilian experts on this topic. Miranda works in agricultural planning in the region known as Matopiba, Brazil's newest agricultural frontier, located at the confluence of the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia.
