From January 2022, ABAG - Brazilian Agribusiness Association will have a new board of directors and will be chaired by Luiz Carlos (Caio) Corrêa Carvalho, who had already led the association between 2012 and 2018, replacing the current president, Marcello Brito.

An agricultural engineer graduated from the Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiróz (Esalq/USP), Carvalho has postgraduate courses in Agronomy and Administration from the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the University of São Paulo (FEA/USP), and Vanderbilt University ( USA).

Since 1983, he has served as director of Canaplan, a consultancy and project company for the sugar-energy sector. With great knowledge of the sugar and alcohol sector, Carvalho is a partner at Bioagencia, a company that sells ethanol in the domestic and foreign markets.

Considered one of the most active entities in the sector in the country, ABAG has worked hard for the development of Brazilian agribusiness, through participation in the main national and global contexts that involve the competitiveness, productivity and sustainability of this segment. Through its thematic committees, it has been discussing and promoting actions on cross-cutting issues, such as logistics, bioeconomy, environmental conservation, which are fundamental to the future of agriculture.

ABAG has also collaborated with the private sector to disseminate the importance of agribusiness for Brazilian social, economic and environmental development, as well as working with government bodies to create policies and actions for the evolution of this sector. For civil society, the entity has been committed to providing qualified information that contributes to strengthening the agricultural brand in the supply of food and products essential for life, always based on environmental protection and social equality.

Carvalho will continue ABAG's modernization process and will work hard to defend the reputation of Brazilian agriculture in the domestic and international markets. His term will be two years.
