Bulletin helps corn and soy producers make decisions

The application of machine learning to satellite image projections and the use of data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA in the acronym in English) are the great differences of the Indigo Insight Bulletin. Produced monthly by Indigo, an agribusiness startup that develops digital innovations for the sector, the bulletin, which is already a reference in data in the United States, also has a Brazilian version to assist decision-making by local corn and soy producers.

In the first half of the year, the Indigo Insight Bulletin shares the evolution of the harvest and off-season in South America (Brazil and Argentina) and, in the second half, the evolution of the harvest in the United States. With the data, rural producers can compare their productivity with the regional average and observe global production trends.

“Indigo monitors food production around the world using machine learning applied to satellite images, which ensures a greater level of accuracy in projecting potential yield compared to traditional sampling methods. By combining these projections with the numbers presented by the USDA, which are considered the most relevant in the agribusiness, we bring key knowledge to the producer”, comments the startup's LATAM CEO, Dario Maffei.

The Indigo Insight Bulletin has projections of yield, production and planted area, separated by type of crop and country. The data presented is compared with that released by the National Supply Company (Conab), in the case of Brazil, and by the Buenos Aires Cereal Exchange, in the case of Argentina. In addition, the report also provides analyzes based on the Crop Health Index (CHI), Indigo's exclusive vegetation index adjusted for corn and soybeans.
